Picnic in Latvian style
We offer a unique tour with a picnic in one of the largest open-air museums in Europe – The Latvian Ethnographic Museum. Initially, with a guide we will go to the museum, situated in a picturesque location on the banks of Yugla Lake, away from the city buildings, almost on the border of Riga. To the museum there have been transported, installed and arranged 118 ancient buildings from all the historic districts of Latvia: Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Zemgale and Latgale - from the late 17th century to the second half of the 30-ies of the 20th century. In the museum you will see the yards of Latvian peasants, craftsmen and fishermen. In all of them there is a permanent exhibition: interior, household items and objects that characterize the epoch, district, occupation of the house owners. During this fascinating tour you will have the opportunity to explore the history of crafts, technologies and traditions, it is pleasant and helpful to spend time with children, family and friends, to watch and try ancient crafts, enjoy traditional food, rest and stay outdoors in nature. At the end of the excursion program a picnic and music with dancing in the open air is waiting for you!
